COASTAL LIVING AT ITS BEST- THE DOUGHER HOUSE TOUR - PART 1

Today's post is Part 1 in a 3 part series of a tour of an amazing beach home!
Join me as we take a tour of the Dougher Beach Home!

I am excited to share a beautiful beach home owned by John and Edna Dougher, located on Topsail Beach, NC.    Dougher is a luxury home builder and his wife, Edna, is an interior designer.   Their home is a perfect example of how beauty and function can coincidence with proper planning and expertise.  The Dougher home has so many intriguing features and unusual furnishings I have decided to do share the house tour by floors.

Today's post features the first floor of the home.   Edna's bright color palette, whimsical touches and original art, work together to create a home guaranteed to put a smile on your face, upon entering the front door.   Edna loves the thrill of the hunt, when it comes to finding the unusual and interesting in home decor.  The furnishings, art and accessories in the home were either made by Edna, commissioned, found online or by visits to local shops and art shows.    Every corner of the house reveals a unique custom piece of furniture, art  and accessories perfectly placed.

The details of the structure deserve mention as well.  The house features many unique details, exotic wood, custom finishes and specialty elements only available when using a custom builder willing to go the extra mile. The creative banister rails on the stairway which is a combination of fish cutouts and Chippendale design woodwork is a favorite of mine.  I hope you will enjoy the visual posts of the Dougher home.  It's a prime example of what happens when you hire a great custom builder and talented interior designer, as a team, to create a home.  The result is a home built of dreams. I think it is fair to say Dougher Construction has a dream team when it comes to building and designing custom homes.

Come back tomorrow to tour the second floor of the Dougher home!
