My first job was in advertising which was not for me, but the only job I could find in the small town I lived in at that time. My next job was right down my alley and perfect for utilizing my degree! I began managing and buying for a regional clothing store chain. This was fun, but the hours were bad and I wanted to do something that gave me more time to be home with my kids! Unfortunately, I chose to become a clothing sales rep which put me on the road more hours than I can count and away from my family. After quitting this job, I was at home for a while and during this time began working on decorating my own home which led to friend's asking for my design advice.
It wasn't until midlife, I discovered my true love was interior design! I decided to return to school to study interior design. At last, I had found my niche!!
For the past 15 years, I have enjoyed working with residential clients to design fabulous, yet functional and livable homes. My clients become my friends and my friends become my clients! It was the perfect fit!
Almost two years ago, my oldest child, Walker, was killed while kayaking his senior year at Auburn University. Since Walker's accident, I have searched for a way I could give to others. Losing Walker has taught me that life is too short to have regrets! I plan to live each day doing the things I love.....one of those things is sharing with others... I am always so happy when I feel that I have helped someone else.
I spend so much time searching for that "perfect" item be it furniture, rug, lamp, etc., I pass up many great pieces or ideas along the way. This blog was created in hopes that some of those great things will be of great use to you! Also, I plan to take you on some of my scavenger hunts, into some of my design jobs and on occasion try to solve some of your design dilemmas!
I have a great husband and 4 great children. My life isn't perfect but it's mine. I am very lucky to have the ability to create and I feel the need to share that with you!
