Happy Fourth of July To You from Team CharleyWalker!

Here's wishing you a day filled with family, friends, and fun!

We started the morning off bright and early with our traditional Topsail Beach Independence 5k Run. Some of us walked while others ran, but we there for a common goal that was raising money for Team CharleyWalker.   My nieces formed Team CharleyWalker to benefit SMA(Spinal Muscle Atrophy) and The Walker Taylor Herring Scholarship at Auburn University School of Forestry.   Charley Swing, our niece, is a brave little girl fighting SMA.  Walker was my son; I lost six years ago while kayaking on the Tallapoosa near Auburn.  Today is always a special day because we join as a family to honor Charley and to remember Walker.

This year there were hats made and sold for $20 to raise money for both causes.  If you would like a hat or want to donate to the CharleyWalker Team please email me at Lmende@gmail.com or send money via paypal to that email.  Choose the family and friend option so we don't have to pay a fee for the donation.  We can send you a receipt for tax purposes.

A Huge Thank You to Team CharleyWalker!  It was a great day that touched my heart and will touch the lives of many who benefit from the matching donations to SMA and beneficiaries of Walker's Scholarship Fund.  The young lady who was awarded Walker's Scholarship this year was Kristen Rice.  She is a Pre-Vet major.
