Branding + Interior Design by Kim Kuhteeubl on Monday Book Review & A Giveaway!!

Hello Readers, I'm excited to say that I'm back for another Monday Book Review.   I got off track with my "Monday Book Reviews series "during the holidays as I didn't have time to read much less post about anything.

Today book won't appeal to everyone but if you are a designer, it is the perfect book to kick off your new year.  I would go a bit further and say it is a "must read" if you are a designer and haven't read this book.

Branding +Interior Design by Kim Kuhteubl  is a book chocked full of advice for getting visibility and building a business strategy for interior designers.

Wondering why you should read this book or if it is right for you?

If you have asked yourself the following questions this book is for you.

Are you a designer wondering why you are working so hard and barely meeting your bottom line while your peers seem to be thriving?

Do you know what your brand DNA is?

Do you have a clear vision of where you want to be as a
 brand, designer or business?

Ask stated in the description of book, "this book bridges the gap between designer and design leader and shows pros how to define, value, and communicate their vision."

The book is well written and easy to read.  My favorite part of the book is the STYLEsheet worksheets that I could use to adapt strategies for my business.   The STYLEsheets are easy to answer questionnaires that can helped me analyze my business and brand and helped me to see things in a different way.

Kim is an award-winning producer.  She is a member of the Producers's Guild of America.  Since starting her company MeByDesign she has worked with boutique interior designer firms and helped them boost their brand to tell their stories and build their visibility.   Many of the firms she has worked with have become household names because of Kim and her sage advice.

A key point that Kim talks about is the importance of telling your story  from a distinct point of view which is directed at the clients you wish to attract.  Isn't that what we all want to know?  If we have the ideal clients  our jobs would be so much easier.

I could go on and on about this lady and her book but I suggest you order it and find out for yourself.  This should be on the shelf of every designer's library.

There are also conversations in the book with industry powerhouses of design such as Barbara Barry, Martyn Lawrence Bullard, Kelly Hoppen and many others.

The book begins with Chapter 1 "Rules of Being Visible" and works through all the important topics we as designers are plagued to understand such as how to determine your brand DNA, how to find the right clients, how to build your online presence, how to deal with the press, how to build your audience and licensing, publishing and legalese.
