New Modenus concept accelerates conversation between

brands and designers

Announcing launch of “Modenus Talks” in Las Vegas prior to KBIS

(Orlando, Florida) Modenus.com, the online design resource and creator of internationally recognized BlogTours, is launching an interactive conversation concept called Modenus Talks. The event will take place on February 3^rd, 2014 from 12:00 to 4:00 pm at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas.

Modenus CEO Veronika Miller describes Modenus Talks as “speed dating for knowledge” as it brings manufacturers, designers, media and other industry professionals together for an afternoon of unplugged round table conversations about design business, design ideas and design technologies.

Modenus Talks is a result of three years of design-centered conversations; of hearing about business related issues, concerns and challenges and helping Modenus partners and community members find solutions via highly visible events, online and in person. “It struck me after the last series of BlogTours that we hosted in London and Los Angeles, that when you bring talented people together, the answers to most business and design related questions are already in the room, you just have to know to ask the right questions,” states Veronika Miller. “It was through casual conversations that meaningful bits of knowledge were shared, making the groups walk away with a thought, an idea, a new way of doing something. That’s the premise for Modenus Talks.”

The invitation-only event will bring together 45 influencers from all areas of interior design and kitchen & bath design, including select brand representatives. Three conversation groups will rotate between two design challenges and a Q & A session live on social media, allowing those not in attendance to participate and interact with the Modenus Talks group.

Title sponsors for the first-ever Modenus Talks are 20-20 Technologies, Blanco, Mr. Steam and Walker Zanger. Design enthusiasts can join by submitting questions prior to the event and following the #ModenusTalks hashtag on Twitter during the event. Results of the design challenges will be compiled and shared with media.

My Wish For You!

It occurred to me this morning that we love being in our homes during the holidays, with the fresh tree, twinkling lights, soft music and good smells wafting from the kitchen.  The reason we love this holiday atmosphere is due to the added time and attention we expend in making our homes feel special.  What if we did that all year long?  Can you imagine always having fresh flowers, a live tree or good things baking in the oven?  I don't know about you, but between kids, work and chores, I know I don't always put forth the effort necessary to create a sense of specialness year round in my own home.  I have decided to commit  to making an extra special effort at creating a more nurturing atmosphere in my home in 2014.  I spend so much time making other people's homes special and often my gets a shortened version. 

Will you join me in my efforts to create a more nurturing environment for your family?  There are lots of new things on the horizon for Lisa Mende Design.  Can't wait to share, but for now I must go get ready for church and a day with family!  We have cards, decorations and gift buying to finish.  How bout you, are you ready?  Only 10 more days left til Christmas!

  I find if I start with an attitude of joy and don't rush through the events, I enjoy them so much more.    Let's try to set our intentions each morning to  that of thanksgiving,happiness and gentleness towards our fellowman.  It will make a huge difference in your day.

Victoria and Albert Museum, London Blogtour London with Modenus

Have you ever witnessed something so beautiful it was hard to describe?Sometimes the experience of actual being in a space is so much greater than a photograph can portray.  This was the case of the Bocci chandelier installed at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London for Design Festival week.  Canadian based designer, Omer Arbel suspended 280 individual series 28 glass glass pendant lamps.  Each lamp was handmade in Bocci's Canadian glass factory using a process developed by Arbel.   lights from copper cord to create a beautiful chandelier for London Design Week.  Our guide said the copper wiring was first hung and then the glass was affixed to the wires. The chandelier descended  from the highest pinnacle of the museum ceiling then spanned the height of the Museum through the Ceramics Galleries and continued to descend through the coffered ceiling beneath to finally appear above the main entrance.
