All work and no play makes for a very boring market trip so make sure to
eat, drink and make a little merry in High Point! Here's a quick guide!
Don't starve at Market
Many market exhibitors offer breakfast, lunch, afternoon snacks and cocktails in their showrooms. Assuming you arrive bright and early in the morning, you will most likely want a cup of coffee or a bite to eat. Most of the larger permanent showrooms offer food and drink, so I suggest booking early morning appointments showrooms that offer food, so you can work and eat breakfast. The temporary showrooms are typically don't offer food due to space, but sometimes they have food catered. You might want to ask when booking your appointments. It's perfectly fine to ask if they serve breakfast or lunch. If you aren't booking early morning appointments, but are looking for breakfast lunch or cocktails options, I have provided a quick guide below. To be most efficient go ahead and enter these showrooms into your My Market Plan as part of your day, so you don't have to give it a thought when you get hungry. There are always free waters and Cheerwine given out in front of the IHFC building. ( If you are a blogger and register as press, food and beverages are offered in the High Point Theatre Press Center.) When 5 o'clock hits there are typically drinks offered many places but I have provided a quick guide to places who have drink Sat. - Tues.
I have also listed the celebrity book signings and celebrity meet ups.
Make sure to check the market website for day specific
events and to read details about any of the events listed below.
I just listing these because it is hard when at market to flip back and forth
between the days and events on the website. Hope this is helpful!
Think of this as a quick reference guide
for easy planning.
(Remember showrooms provide food in hopes of feeding their customers or gaining new customers so keep that in mind if partaking of their hospitality.)

Staying charged up and active on Social Media
Let's face market days are long days!! Most market days begin early morning and go through cocktails, dinners or late night parties. If you snap tons of pictures, text or talk on your phone batteries are sure to die mid-day. If you forget to bring an extra battery or morphie pack, there is a solution. Most showrooms have electrical sockets available and are happy to charge phones while you are working in the showroom. Just make sure to bring your phone charger so you can plug up. Don't forget to pick up your phone before you leave!
(Again if you are a blogger and register for a press pass there are charging stations in the Press Center as well as desks where you can actually work on your computer, if you want to write a blog post while at market. Just remember to register as press.
By all means be social while at market - tweet, instagram and Facebook while shopping the market. Also, make sure to #hashtag the showroom, so that other buyers at market will know where you discovered your fabulous finds.. Also, if looking for a fun event or where the crowd is gathering, check out #hpmkt on twitter for updates on where the action is.
There are tons of other events on the High Point Market Website, but make sure to check the website for the complete listing of all scheduled events.
To keep informed of real time market events keep up with via:
