Hands down, my favorite new showroom at High Point Market was World's Away's new permanent showroom in Interhall. World's Away isn't new to the High Point scene by any means, but the growing company has graduated to a much larger, permanent showroom.
It's no secret that I have been a long time fan of World's Away having style spotted them all three times I was a style spotter for High Point Market. I think the line just keeps getting better and better.
Years ago, I bought World's Away when I had a retail space under another name. That was in the 1990's and I bought "painted toile" table tops, wastebaskets and trays. The line looked very different and my style was different in those days as well. In more recent years, the line has evolved into "Hollywood Regency and Mid Century Mod Style offerings, perfectly timed for the growing need of more transitional pieces for today's updated interiors.
You may not know that World's Away was one of the first companies to offer mirrored furniture. It all started with the "Cary" mirrored dresser and the rest is history! The company was founded in Memphis, Tennessee in 1992 and their headquarters remain there today. World's Away offers high design pieces at great prices. I took the liberty of snapping a few pictures to share when I was in their showroom.
One of my favorite items in the new World's Away showroom were the gold and silver tortoise shells. No animals were harmed in the creation of these gorgeous items.
The Arianna lamp in gold is a standout on the faux greenery wallpaper. Their lighting is so wonderful, I don't think there is one piece I wouldn't use in a project.
Originally known for their hand leafed and nickel plated occasional tables, the company has added lacquer to it's product mix in recent years with much success.
There are so many beautiful lacquered chests, how does one choose? I say "buy them all"! That's what I love about being an interior designer, it fulfills my need to buy things for myself, because I get to buy pretty pieces like these for clients, so in a way, it feels like I own them!
The "Bernard" is still a best seller and favorite of mine.
I style spotted it last year in white. It's gorgeous shown
here in the grey.
The new showroom was totally on trend with lavender, pink, and purple walls
which served as the perfect backdrop for the gold and silver.
Doesn't having a fabulous trashcan make emptying the trash a pleasure? (Not really, but it does help doesn't it) I love it when a company takes a utilitarian product and makes it beautiful. These are especially nice for powder rooms.
Love these affordable blossom pendants, reminiscent of the Tommi Parzinger, lotus pendants by Feldman, sold in the late 50's & early 60's at a fraction of what the originals are selling for on 1st Dibs and ebay.
The Marcus nightstand has the most adorable bamboo hardware. Traci and I want it in the emerald green for our studio. Do you think you could do that for us World's Away?
If not, we'll take one in white! Thank you very much!
World's Away has a plethora of beautiful mirrors,
in gold and silver.
More fab mirrors, and amazing woven brass base with
glass top table and adorable Lolita stools.
This new "Rowan" chandelier was one of my favorite pieces at market.
More "gorgeousness"!
World's Away does "white" so well. I loved this vignette in the showroom. I spy the "molecule"coffee table that Traci Zeller style spotted a couple of markets ago.
There's the Jackie Mirror in silver. Isn't she glam?
Isn't it all glam and fabulous?
Love and adore the "Doris" etagere!
Dying to use the "Jonathan" coffee table in a project!
Elegant !
The perfect "Palm" bamboo bar cart! Makes me
think of my friends at Parker Kennedy Living!
Do you guys specify this one?
Mad Men never had it so good. The "Gerard" is a favorite of mine clickhere to find your favorite! There are many good ones! Everyone needs a great bar cart for entertaining!
This is possibly my favorite vignette from the new
showroom. It is the epitome of what's current right now!
Love the wall color with the mirror chest!
What is your favorite?
Here are the three World's Away pieces I style spotted and guess what?
They are still in the line and as current as ever!
