One of the most fascinating showrooms at High Point Market this October Market was the Stanley Showroom. Stanley was showcasing a collection of vintage Mid Century Stanley pieces which had been purchased and restored to their natural beauty. This fit right into with my mantra for "authentic" design. This collection is proof positive for investing in "authentic quality and good design". The 40 piece collection is as sought after today, as it was in 1950 and 1960, when it first debuted. You may remember that I chose the Theme II Hall Credenza above as one of my Style Spotter Picks. I thought it was truly amazing that Stanley had the vision and took the time, effort and money to bring this collection to market. The pieces were acquired through antiques shops, newspaper listings, ebay and word of mouth and then painstakingly restored to their original beauty. Feast your eyes on a couple more pieces from this amazing collection:
MidCentury Masterpieces
Stanley Furniture’s Heritage Collection – Background This fall, Stanley introduced its Heritage Collection -- a group of authentic midcentury modern furniture originally manufactured by Stanley between 1950 and 1969. The team at Stanley spent 16 months tracking down these pieces through Ebay, Etsy, antique stores and Craigslist, purchasing them, and then restoring the pieces at the company’s Heritage facility in Martinsville, VA.
During the restoration process, the pieces were dismantled, then put back together and refinished with period-appropriate colors. All of the hardware is original; however, new cushions and fabrics were added to ensure the items would stand up to daily use. Each piece comes with a certificate of authenticity and a dossier that includes scans from the original catalog featuring the furniture as well as photos chronicling its restoration. The collection celebrates Stanley’s 90-year history of making high-quality furniture and emphasizes the brand’s ongoing commitment to design leadership.

Stanley Furniture is one furniture company that actually gets it. They believe in "authenticity in quality and design" as well as " tradition with a twist", both of which Lisa Mende Design is all about.
