Jason Wu 2013 Spring/Summer Show at The St. John's Center, NYC
Timeless Design That is Innovative and Fresh....
For his Spring/Summer 2013 Collection, Jason was inspired by the provocative, erotically charged imagery of photographer Helmut Newton and the soft, dream-like photos by photographer Lillian Bassman. The works of both photographers are centered on the female form. Jason was inspired by the tension created by the hardness of Newton's imagery when contrasted with the gentle forms in Bassman's work" -Description given in Wu's Fashion Show Program

Highlights From The Show:
Jason Wu's Spring 2013 Fashion Show was graced with two big names in Fashion... Models, the beautiful Carolyn Murphy, The Face of Estee Lauder, who came out of retirement to open the show and the fabulous, Karlie Kloss
The dramatic music of Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" opened the show with Carolyn Murphy leading the pack in Wu's "show stopping" interpretation of
"the little black dress". When you begin the best you set the bar pretty high for the rest, but Wu was capable of perfect delivery.

You might remember that Helmut Newton photographed our very own "material girl". I couldn't help but think how all these fashions seemed like something she would have worn then and would still look great on her today!

Wu believes clothing should be pretty from the inside out so he
created transparent silhouettes such as the designs below to
accentuate the feminine form.
The color palette was restrained
with black, white, nude, navy with pops of Wu's signature pink.
Like any successful event, a fashion show is comprised of
many talented people, but the designer has the
vision and directs the rest.
The rest of the team who had a hand in making it happen:
Bureau Betak , the shows producers, were responsible for turning the industrial style studio space into a edgy, yet salon-like atmosphere complete with painted tile floor and a oversized ceiling to floor mirror at the back of the runway tilted at just the right angle, to allow the audience to view not only the front of the outfit, as the model approached, but also the back.
Diane Kendal, expert makeup artist for MAC created strong
distinct look for the models with dramatic brows and red lips.

Trends for Spring 2013?
If Wu's show is any indication and I would guess that he
would be since he is at the top of the fashion chain.
1) sexy piece swimsuits
2)Glamour- crystal, pearl embellishment
3)Leather and lace - mixed and alone
4) High waist pants such as Wu's stovepipe pant with slim legs
5) Harnesses and Suspenders - on everything from shorts to evening wear
6) OPI 's Suzy skis the Pyrenee's Polish - The perfect neutral for the look
(as seen on all the models in the show)

The final walk down the runway was so cohesive, it was breath taking!
All forty two models walked in single file and filled the stage.
The look so strong, yet so feminine, the perfect balance between hard and soft, seduction and innocence. Jason Wu at what he does best!
