Ronald McDonald Project Design Part 2 Update with Mende/Zeller

Traci Zeller and I installed our room at the The Ronald McDonald House Long Island last week.  We arrived on Wednesday to meet with our contractor, Laurence Carolan of The House of Laurence.  We were thrilled with the progress in our first floor business office which we now refer to as "The Cocoon" thanks to the lovely painting by artist, Kerry Steele.   Our room is tiny, but an important room in the house.  It is a place where the parents of sick children can go to conduct personal business while guests in the house.

Is Your Home A Smart Home?

Society and cultural trends have always influenced home design and property value: the peace cry of the 70’s inspiring flower power furniture, the 90’s responding to the recession neutral colors and minimalistic furniture.  Today, it seems you can’t turn on the TV or open a magazine without reading about the connected technology trend – and how it is quickly and efficiently running our lives.

To examine how this era of connected technology is influencing trends in home design and property value, and give fans simple tips & tricks to take advantage of the trend, to create a sleeker, ‘smarter home’, is Genevieve Gorder, host of HGTV’s Genevieve’s Renovation.

Meet Mac Meckley

Meet the talented Mac Meckley, from Seattle.  Mac is a successful artist with a flair for the unusual.  Recently, Mac decided to take her fine art work a step further, by taking her beautiful paintings and translating them into pillows and throws.  The result is phenomenal!  Mac's first three collections, Blooming, Dashing and Fetching reveal Mac's unique style and talent as an artist.  I predict we will be hearing much more about this talented young lady!

It's official Traci Zeller and I have opened our joint studio which we refer to as Studio 202.
Our design collaboration last year on the Gentleman's dressing room in Traditional Home show house "Adamsleigh" was responsible for the birth of a design friendship which has resulted in sharing joint studio space.  We love our new studio and hope you will come see us when you are in our area.  Give us a call and come by.  We welcome designers and consumers alike.  Our studio offers beautiful furniture, fabrics, wallpaper, lighting and original art from North Carolina, South Carolina, Colorado, Seattle, and Virgina artists.  We will be spotlighting the artist weekly.

"Most Wanted" Fashions for 2014 on Fall Fashion Friday

Shinola
I am dying to own a Shinola Watch like this one with the burnt orange band.  Santa might be coming early!  Do you this awesome new brand?  Peopl say got its name from the old saying "You don't know shit from shinola" which was a popular saying during World War 1" but I have it on good record it comes from the old resurrected shoe polish brand name. Also love the emerald green one hereThe bands are handmade and built to last by artisans in Detriot.  Speaking of Detriot did you know that this company was started by Fossil founder, Tom Kartsotis?  Shinola also makes bikes, and other leather goods.  Most of their items are made in Detriot!  Made in America, baby!

LIZA HATHAWAY MATTHEWS - WELCOME TO STUDIO 202

We are so excited to announce that Liza Hathaway Matthews has joined Studio 202 as a gallery partner!   Liza is a contemporary, abstract artist.  She paints incredible landscapes, abstracts and botanicals.  Liza holds a BFA in Painting and Interior design from Maryland Institute, College of Art and has studied plain air and still life with members of the Shuler School Faculty.  Her paintings are inspired by nature, design and pattern, which is evident by the graceful form, texture and luminous color you find in her work.  She uses oil, acrylic, and charcoal pencil in her work.  Liza lives in Baltimore, Maryland with her husband and three children.  I was introduced to Liza's work through a chance meeting on social media.
I hope you enjoy her work as much as Traci Zeller and I are enjoying having her in the studio!  Come by and see some of Liza's work in person at Studio 202!
