Working with a Designer Can Save You Money!

Here is an example of why working with a designer is smart....

Depending on the way your designer works,
it could actually be cheaper
to buy through the designer.  Why you ask?
Several reasons actually...

1) Your designer may not charge full mark up on what he/she sells to you. If you
have hired the designer to do a room or source an object, you may be paying
them an hourly rate, therefore, they may give you a break on the price, which
actually ends up cheaper for you in the long run. Not all designers charge
100% markup but retail stores do!

2)The Designer may be able to get the look for less, because designers know the
market and what is available from different sources.

3) You could make costly mistakes buying the wrong piece for your space.  Your
designer will know the scale and type of item you need.

Here is one example of How You Can Save
 Money by hiring a Designer:

The Wine Barrel Chandelier
All the rage in interiors for the past several of years.

Below is a picture of  a pair of wine barrel chandeliers
 used over a dining table.

Restoration Hardware photo
Restoration Hardware's  Wine Barrel Chandelier Retails for $2795.00

The chandeliers at Restoration Hardware are made by a company
called BoBo Intriguing Objects.  Prior to Restoration Hardware stocking them,
they were only available through designers.
Now BoBo is selling them directly to Restoration hardware....

Below are examples of two more examples of wine barrel chandeliers...
Would you believe both are cheaper than the one from Restoration above?

Chandelier #1

Available from French Country Direct for $1595.

Chandelier #2
 Liza Sherman NYC for $1950
Through her shop on 1ST Dibs

Here's another example....

As Cary would say....Hello Lover....

Not everyone has Sarah Jessica Parker's budget but you too can
get the look for less if you know where to look ...
.

Elle Decore

OK, Go ahead and swoon, if you haven't already,
This is a picture of Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick's
dining room of their  Hamptons House,  which was
featured in Elle Decor in 2009.
The designer, Eric Hughes, chose this exquisite egyptian hand blown
rare turquoise glass chandelier from Cisco Bros. in California.
Price tag....?  Don't know but it is $4500.00 at Liza Sherman
in white glass and this is rare turquoise, folks!  Yikes!

I have pined  for it ever since I first saw it here.

 It is available from....
Available from Liza Sherman but You have to Call for Pricing..

This beauty is available online through Liza Sherman's 1st Dibs store.
As I said before, the white version is available for $4500.00, so I am guessing
this baby could be as much as double or more..

But Here is  the twin sister at a much better price.......
Canopy Designs

Same design Idea...
Available From Canopy Designs Retails for $2150
but can only be purchased through a designer or dealer.
Still beautiful quality.  You wouldn't know the difference unless
you had the two styles in the same room.

Lesson Learned???

A professional designer can get you the biggest bang for the buck.
First time home buyers are sometimes overwhelmed trying to decide
where to begin decorating their home.   A seasoned designer can help
prioritize your needs, as well as find the best quality product at the best price.
The client that wants to update their interiors can benefit from a designers

ability to add and subtract simple items to create an entirely different look!

Spring is here and it's time to spruce up!

Don't hesitate to call a designer to help, it's more cost effective than you think!
